ITAG (Information Technology Association Galway) 2014 Awards
RTA Galway was nominated for its contribution to IT in the Community (in the Branch) at the ITAG Awards ceremony. Other nominees in the category were:

* Computer and Communications Museum of Ireland
* 091 Labs
* Galway Education Centre
* Eglinton Asylum Seekers Accommodation Centre
* Outreach at Insight Centre for Data Analytics, NUI Galway
* Rails Girls Galway.
Mary Howley and I represented the Branch at the Gala Banquet held in the Meyrick Hotel where over 200 budding entrepreneurs, whose excellence as individuals or as leaders in their respective companies, or as team players from Start Up’s, to MNS in the West, was recognized and awarded. Innovation and Enterprise awards were also awarded.
The Branch was nominated for organizing a series of courses with Galway Education Centre and the Insight Centre for Data Analytics at NUI, Galway. The courses provided training in on line social media (Twitter, Facebook), website design, Skype, mobile phones and even computer coding. We also set up our own Blog and we maintain it.
The ultimate award in our category was bestowed on our own tutor Brendan Smith of Outreach. We were delighted for Brendan as he has been most helpful to all our members who attended his courses over the past five years.
Mary and I had a very pleasant night. We came away feeling that IT in the West is in safe hands judging by the intelligent enterprising young people we met on the night. Be in no doubt - the WEST is indeed Awake!
