Retired Teacher's Bridge, Galway Ed. Centre

In Sept. 201O, a group of retired teachers in Galway decided to take up Bridge as a new hobby. To that end, they attended a class each Thursday at the Education Centre, learning the basics of bidding and card play. So successful were their endeavours, by Christmas they had completed Level 1 and taken part in their first competition, sponsored by the Galway Branch of the Retired Teachers’ Association.

In the New Year, undaunted by the arctic conditions, they continued their Thursday classes, and have now completed Levels 2 and 3. Initially, they intended to join local Bridge clubs but they are enjoying the camaraderie of their fellow retirees so much they are forming a new Bridge club for retired teachers at the Galway Education Centre.
