We had a great day out at the Bloom Festival –
brilliant sunshine, comfortable coach, light refreshments at the 18th
century, country gentleman’s house at Johnstown House, go

od company and above
all the sheer enjoyment of Show Gardens to Post Card Gardens, Sculpture Gardens
and brilliant Flower Arrangements. An added attraction for our group of 50 from
Galway was the top prize winning entry of the Connemara Show Garden and Brigid
Morley, Oughterard, winning a silver medal for her creative flower arrangement
based on the ‘Patterns of Nature’.
Bloom had no shortage of garden inspiration and
advice for all our garden enthusiasts. There was a wonderful array of plants
and equipment on sale so members have no excuse now – they have everything they
need to recreate their own haven of peace and tranquility at home.

| Light to Hope |
My favourite garden was The Teagasc exhibit
–‘Garden of Hope’ which was designed by Laura Cassin’s team and the sculpture
was by artist Michele Hannan. The piece in the center of the garden depicts ‘
Light to Hope’ symbolizes the journey from darkness and despair to the light of
hope and healing.
A modified version of the garden will move to a
permanent home at one of the Pieta House centers.
Bloom caters for all tastes from fashion to
cookery demonstrations, flower arranging, Arts and Craft village, children’s
creative area, music entertainment and much more.

We had a very fulfilled day even if we were not
invited to tea from our own man in the Āras!
