Heartiest congratulations to the primary school teachers and their pupils who gave us a ray of hope for the future of our country through the very excellent, inspiring and informative science projects presented by them at the Galway Science Exhibition at the weekend.
Digital technologies are definitely expanding children’s horizons and presenting them with new opportunities. Interacting with the children at the exhibition it was reassuring for me to see their passion, motivation, curiosity and understanding of the science projects presented by them. Colleagues, judging by what I saw at the exhibition you can rest assured that we have handed on the “baton” to a dedicated group of primary school teachers who continue to give of their time freely to their pupils.

Congratulations to Brendan Smith of DERI, N.U.I.G. who has done Trojan work with the Galway Primary schools and R.T.A. Galway. through his Primary Schools Outreach Programme which include, “Mapping Galway Schools”. Digital Heritage Archives”, “Galway Townlands” on line Encyclopedia, Primary Schools: “Learning’ to e Learning”, “Computer Recycling”.
Gratitude is due too, to "The Galway Education Centre" under the directorship of Bernard Kirk who facilitated, encouraged and assisted science projects in schools for the past thirty years.
Science and eLearning is not dormant in Galway - in fact Galway is at the forefront of this global revolution.
