On September the 1st 31 members spent a pleasant day on Lough Corrib. Inclement weather conditions didn't deter this brave group. New friendships were formed and old friendships were renewed in a relaxed atmosphere.
We explored the delightful gardens and walks of Ashford, visited the ruins of the 12th century Augustinian abbey at Cong and the historic island of Inchagoill. Here you can view 5th century and 12th century churches, the spectacular standing stone of Lugna, St Patrick's nephew and the stone tomb of Muirgeas O Nioc, Archbishop of Tuam.
David Luskin, our navigator, gave us a detailed account of Ireland's second largest lake, Lough Corrib. Everyone agreed that September the first 2009 was certainly different from previous Septembers spent in classrooms!!
