Sheelagh addressed
the meeting -
Members who have
undertaken substitution in our schools were dismayed when they
discovered that they are treated as new graduates entering the
profession. They feel that experience gained over an entire career is
simply ignored. She also stressed that it was central to the success
of RTAI and INTO that their intergenerational support is maintained.
She encouraged
members to avail of RTAI Bursaries as they support and encourage life
long learning. NEC has increased the Solidarity fund to 2euro per
member per annum and has supported 10 projects during the past year.

Chairperson Carmel
Niland presented Sheelagh with a gift and wished her well as
President of RTAI.
Billy Sheehan spoke
on – Public Service Pension reduction, Pension Parity, RTAI Annual
Convention informing members that RTAI took an information stand at
this years INTO Congress. He stressed that all members should be
actively involved in the recruitment of new members - application
forms can be downloaded from www.rtaireland.ie.
It was decided that
Carmel and Martina Johnson would represent the Branch at the
Presidential Dinner of INTO President Joe Killeen in October.
Members enjoyed a 4
course lunch at Menlo Park Hotel.
