Mr. Tom Burke President of RTAI addressed the meeting stressing that health and pension concerns were very important to all retirees. He reminded members that we must have intergenerational loyalty with younger teachers entering the profession. Mary Howley, cathaoirleach presented Tom with a Galway Crystal vase and flowers for his wife Rita on the occasion of Tom’s visit to the Branch.

Billy Sheehan, our general secretary addressed the meeting and answered members’ questions. He reiterated points made in An Comhnasc but emphaised the following:

1.      Public Service Pensions Reduction and Restoration

2.     Pension Parity.

4.     Teaching after retirement  - one must register with the Teaching Council , seek Garda Vetting which is law since 29^th April 2016. The daily Rate is 171.03.
