Denis Desmond our general secretary addressed the meeting and answered members’ questions. He reiterated points made in An Comhnasc but emphaised the following:

1.     Medical Cards: In establishing your gross income send your P60 not your payslipwhen applying for a medical card.

2.       There are 220 plus health Insurance plans on the market. It is hard to distinguish between them. Cornmarket have a team who can advise you on the best-valued plan to suit your requirements. The service is FREE. Do your research at least 2 month s before your renewal date. Contact health.insurance @cornmarket.ie. Worth contacting but remember give them a time you will be able to receive their call.

3.      A trained Councilor is available to members of RTAI. Contact Head Office.

4.       Doctor Terry Mc Veigh is looking for volunteers over 60 years with no personal history of cancer (in the patient themselves) to assist her in Breast Cancer Research. Contact Number: 091524390.

5.       39 members enjoyed a delicious lunch after the meeting.
