Visit to Áras an Uachtaráin

Enjoying the Garden Party at the Aras.
A Visit to Áras an Uachtaráin was the final outing of RTA Bridge Club under their President Mary Howley. Due to the superb organizational skills of Mary the group on a two day visit to Dublin visited the J.F.K exhibition of photos taken during the President’s historic visit to Ireland in 1963. We took a walking tour of the sites involved in the 1916 Easter Rising, visited The Gate Theatre to experience the splendid production of Arthur Millar’s “Enemy of the People’, and viewed the recent exhibition of William Evans (1798-1877) water colours entitled ‘From Galway to Leenane Perceptions of Landscape”in the National Gallery.

The final treat was a visit to Áras an Uachtaráin where we were introduced to Uachtarán Micheál Ó h’Uigínn agus a bhean Sabina. We were wined and dined and entertained by Dordán and other entertainers.

This final celebration was packed into two days – you need stamina and good feet to keep up with our Mary. There is no end to her boundless energy and enthusiasm. Go maire sí go brách.
