Officer, Galway area gave our members an informative talk on crime prevention in the home, ATM, Internet and on the farm. He advised us to
1. Beware of bogus callers to our homes.
2. When purchasing alarms get 3 written quotes.
3. Be sure that installers of alarms have NSAI certification EN 50BI. The installer should be registered.
4. An alarm should average 600euro approx.
5. Lock doors and windows on leaving your home.
6. It is not advisable to lock your windows with a key.
7. Put a lock on the base of a patio door.
8. Take a serial number of TV, computer out board engines and motors.
9. Do not leave cash hidden in your home.

· Lock all tools and ladders in your garage.
· Good lighting around your house is essential.
· Avoid high hedges around your house – gives protection to the thief.
· Secure side entrances to the back of your house.
· Grants are available to enhance home security.
